How to make your craving for Singapore Hawker Foods less SINFUL

Hey peeps is Sunday once again!

Is really a blessing that there are more Sundays to look forward to, and I am pretty sure I will be there each and everyone celebrating with my love one. Trust that you will have a great one too!

Sunday is a day to look forward to.
Is a day that I will have lunch with someone special, as well as a day to look forward to a special course of meal to be prepared and served by my very capable butler who has been with me for the past 5 years.

Endang will be cooking her very own signature and very delicious Nasi Lemak (without the Coconut milk for a healthier meal) today...although Sunday is her day off....she is having lunch at home today before heading out. Yippeeee!

So for my many foreigner friends out there, Nasi means Rice and Lemak means Coconut in Malay.
Nasi lemak is a fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and "pandan" leaf commonly found in SingaporeMalaysiaBruneiRiau Islands and Southern Thailand

Endang's Signature Dish - "Non-Lemak" Edition
However, Nasi Lemak (657cal) is Singapre's #3 Unhealthiest Hawker Food with the most calories just after Mee Siam, a thin white rice noodle with hard boiled egg and fried bean curd in tangy gravy (694cal) which is #2, and Char Kway Teow, a kind of rice noodles fried with cockles, chinese sausage and sweet sauce (777cal) which is #1 according to Ruby Tan from Ladyironchef.

It is really horrifying to find one’s personal favourite third on the most calories list. The fat content of a typical serving of Nasi Lemak is 25g and it’s all thanks to the rich coconut milk-soaked rice and deep fried accompanying dishes. At 657 calories, this exceeds our “budget” for a meal, based on a 1,800cal diet.

A little consolation perhaps is Endang's signature dish is a "Non-Lemak" edition....yes she serve only plain rice instead. Having said that, the deep fried accompanying dishes are still "sinful".

If you are like me, someone who love good Singapore hawker foods, than perhaps here is a little secret of how I manage to indulge in all these "sinful" food and yet stay in shape.....or maybe this is no longer a secret because most of my family members and close friends are already having Safflower Oil as our daily bread or our mantra for reducing body fat and maintaining lean muscle tissue.
