Fats are actually part of a HEALTHY DIET - Did I hear it wrong ??

Yes indeed ! You do not need to have your ear wax removed !

The secret lies on making smart decisions when it comes to choosing which fats and oils you are going to eat. This means substituting saturated fats with unsaturated fats and needless for me to stress too much on....is for you to opt for lighter oils when cooking.
Anchovies

In the article published in the e-fission-i3-14 recently, HealthMatter.sg has clearly explained that "Fats are essential for supplying the body with energy, and they contain nine kilocalories per gram, twice that of carbohydrates and proteins. In addition, these fats are also required for the transportation of fat-soluble vitamins around the body. These fat-soluble vitamins include Vitamin A, D, E, K and Carotenoids." I will share more on these Vitamins in future entry.

Accordingly, fats are also the building blocks for many tissues and membranes, which also protect our internal organs as well as the formation of hormones.

So what are the key takeaways from that article?

Well here is my summary of what I took away with me.

The type of fat that you consume makes a huge difference, because fats come in three forms, mainly saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated.

A diet that is high in saturated fats, cholesterol and trans fats have been associated with numerous conditions including:

1) Heart diesease
2) Heart attacks
3) Stroke
4) Chronic health problems
5) Diabetes
6) Obesity
Sardines

Excessive fat intake of saturated fats and trans fats are associated with the greatest complications. Trans fats are those fats that are solid at room temperature.

Trans fat redistributes body fats moving them towards the abdomen area resulting in fatter tummies.

One of the best ways to limit the intake of saturated fat is to limit the intake of animal fat in the diet. Animal fats include meats such as:

1) Bacon
2) Sausage
3) Butter
4) Ice Cream

Wow big deal!!
Is hurting me too....because I love most of these so called sinful foods,....I must confess.

If you think is hard to avoid these delicious food although they are sinful, at least try your best to replace them with Polyunsaturated and Monounsaturated fats whenever possible, especially when you cook.

These can be found in canola and olive oil which stay as liquid at room temperature. The best thing is, they also have heart-protecting qualities.

Additionally, I am sure you have heard before that fish also contains good fats.

They are a source of omega-3 fatty acids.

These have been found to help lower cholesterol and to promote good health.

If you are looking for a fish oil supplement, here is one that comes with not only Vitamin E, which is a fat-soluble vitamin but also contains 3000 mg of fish oil from small fish such as Anchovies and Sardines which have a short lifecycle making them an ideal source of fish oil because they are less likely to accumulate environmental toxins that can be found in larger, longer-lived fish. These fish also have significant percentages of the health promoting EPA (elcosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).
