The Magic Dust and The Silver Bullet for Success

The weekend starting 10th April till 12th April was probably one of those days that were the most productive use of my time and resources.

It was for none other than Market Singapore First Annual Convention held at the Resort World Sentosa, West Ballroom.

The Annual Convention saw me and my business partners waking up as early as 6am just to arrive at the Ballroom to start queuing for admission by 7am to ensure good seats are secured for the entire team from Taiwan and Singapore.

The Convention featured Keynote Speaker Mr. Kevin Buckman, Senior Consultant to President & CEO J.R. Ridinger, Market America, Mr. Joe Bolyard, Executive Vice President International Development, Market America, Mr. Anthony Kwan, Regional Director, Asia Pacific, JoJo Soh, Country Manager, Market Singapore and our very first Singapore Director and Singapore Leadership Council Member Mrs Liyen Ho and many more successful UnFranchise Owners from USA, Taiwan, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

While we are all fully charged up for the business after the convention, we are already all set for the Asia Pacific Regional Convention to be held from 23rd to 25th Oct, 2015 at Resort World Sentosa. This convention will feature translation for Mandarin and Cantonese speaking participants.

While you wondered why we are so excited about the upcoming Regional Convention, let me just share some of the key takeaways from the Annual Convention that my team have for the benefits of partners and friends who have missed the chance of attending in person.

Takeaways from Market Singapore 2015 Annual convention:

Winston & Gillian
1)  My take away is to be successful, we can't be afraid to share our good product. And don't judge people, coz you will never know if they will need anything unless you start caring and sharing. - Gillian

2) My takeaway : no pain no gain. Information + Application = Transformation. Without any of the factors above, the business will not be successful. So other than educating ourselves in the business, we need to apply what we learn. Cultivate the B5 in our daily lives  - Shirley

3) My take away would be 2 points.. time management and also how to manage concerns from guests about retail. A bit long but please bear with me..

Shirley, Jasper and Friend
I would say most of us get overwhelmed by our daily lives most or all the time.. Be it work, be it family. Whenever we get to rest, we would say "let's take a break and do it another day" but this behavior turns into habit = no action.  Let's commit ourselves to 3-1-2.. And target to bring at least 1 new guest for each combined HBP.. This would be for Master UFO for those of you who are committed to doing it.

Many a times we have guests having concerns about retail but Kevin highlighted one good point about that. Everyday we are selling.. Selling ideas to colleagues, "selling" when applying for a new job, etc.  Key is that we fear rejection. To do well in this business.. We will need to get over this hurdle. Let's go go go! - Jasper

Tricia & Gerald
4) My takeaway: Don't complain so few products and partner stores. It's should not be an excuse for not performing, give MA some time to work on these. Just focus on result producing activities which will get us closer towards goal. - Gerald

5) Create as many contacts as possible and keep the list growing. Do not be discouraged by any rejection. Persevere is the key word. We will all get there one day. - Tricia

6)  After attending this two days convention, my takeaway is to get action and dont wait. Set a goal. Just follow what we have learn. - Doris

7) Hmm... All very attentive... My takeaway from Stacy, information is not power or everything, you have to do it with feelings.  Also listening is important. - Louise

Louise & Winston
8) Wow everyone so motivated. The 2 days are awesome...learn a lot in diff areas. Most impt I need to set my goal ...that make me happy.
I want residual income and to leave a Legacy.
I need to be selective in recruitment. - ivin

9) Will be happy to do products sharing to help people around him to stay healthy. - Henry

Ivin & Doris
Gillian, Jodi and Shirley's Mom, Jodi & Shin
10) My takeaway is : To succeed we need to commit ourselves, set our goal. Follow the system and do master UFO ... We can all be successful and earn our residual income in time to come. HUAT AH!!!!!!!! - Jodi

11) My takeaways from the first convention:

Kevin Buckman:
Steps to a sucessful MS business:
Florence & Winston

Use the products
Sell the products

Share the business
Sell the business plan

Buy the tickets
Sell the education

Stacy Tung:
If you are an entrepreneur, u never say no. Step out of your comfort zone, you have to be comfort with the uncomfortable.

Shin: A successful man always begin with the end in mind. Set ur goal, remind yourself and work towards it. - Shin

12) To be successful let's leverage on the master UFO program....I will be doing this together with all of you who have committed to do so. - Winston

The Mindset You Need to be Successful as an Entrepreneur

Here are five ‘mindset shifts’ we probably have to make to increase our chances of success as an entrepreneur.

Some of these are difficult to change because of our very deeply routed conditioning in the past as an employee.

Nonetheless, these best practices from Ryan Clements are still worthwhile to leverage.

  • I had to stop thinking about myself as a wage earner, and instead become a ‘long term investor.’
  • Instead of executing instructions I had to make decisions and create systems.
  • There was no one up the line that I could pass responsibility to. I had to become the backstop.
  • Instead of job security for myself, I had to shift my focus to creating value for others.
  • Instead of avoiding criticism and failure, I had to seek out data and feedback.
